J.D. Messick is a master builder, architect and designer whose work spans architecture, furniture, objects, and installations. Trained in both architecture and sculpture, he approaches design through making — with experience ranging from cabinetry and boatbuilding to historic restoration and large-scale installations. His work is informed by a deep understand of materials, craft, and the process of building.

Messick holds a Master of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. His professional experience includes work with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Marmol Radziner, and Gluck+. He is a registered architect in New York State.
