'Point of Contact'
This piece is comprised of two cast iron forms. The top form is magnetically connected to its lower counterpart, which has been wrapped with a lacquer coated copper wire. This wire carries a strong direct current that, when activated, turns the lower form into a strong electric magnet. The top piece will wobble but not fall off.

This project was entirely dug by hand over a six week residency at Art Farm in central Nebraska.

This complex project was an attempt to describe a simple form by defining its outer surface with chords running tangent to the surface. Although just a scale model, I would have never gotten this far without the help of Ryan Welch, mad genius that he is.
